The Department of Education and Training (DET) is offering exciting new opportunities to support the career growth of UBC members. The following leadership training courses, at the International Training Centre in Las Vegas, are now open for registration:
3rd Year Apprentice Program: Helping Build Our Industries
During four intensive days of training, participants develop their professionalism, hone their skills, and learn to lead with a productive attitude. This program is available for 3rd year apprentices. Fourth year apprentices who have not attended previously or 2nd year apprentices who are registered for school may also attend.
UBC Journeymen: Building Leadership for a Strong Future
This program is for journeypersons looking to further develop their leadership and mentorship abilities through practical guidance and proven techniques in this four-day program. By focusing on effective communication, participants will learn how to establish positive work environments and meaningfully engage newer members.
212 Journeymen: Next Level UBC Leaders
The next step in leadership awaits. Journeypersons who have cultivated their personal leadership style can spend four days exploring business finance cause and effect, strategies to manage healthy conflict, and the importance of emotional intelligence. Participants must have successfully completed the DET Leadership UBC Journeyman program.

If you are interested in participating in any of the DET Leadership programs, please reach out to your Local Business Representative.
All DET leadership program attendees must meet the following requirements:
- Must be a UBC member in good standing
- Must have a valid Canadian passport
- Must be able to travel to United States
- Must support UBC goals and objectives
- Must have a leadership mindset and positive attitude
- Must be motivated and able to attend
For students unable to travel outside of Canada, a 3rd Year Apprentice class will run at the UBC Built Training Centre in Vaughan, ON.
