Many hardworking Carpenters’ Union members from Local 93 have been helping to construct the new campus for The Ottawa Hospital since the project commenced at the end of 2022.Currently, Local 93 members are actively working from the ground up to complete the parking garage which, when finished, will provide accessible parking for members who continue to work on construction of the main hospital building.
The project is a joint effort between PCL Construction and EllisDon. Multiple signatory contractors will be on site during different stages of the project, with all carpentry work being performed by UBC members. Throughout construction, the project will help to strengthen the regional economy by creating numerous jobs and providing Local 93 members with thousands of work hours.
The new campus will be an academic research hospital that will provide care for people from Eastern Ontario, Western Quebec, and Nunavut. Hospital staff will conduct innovative research, treat complex injuries and illnesses as well as operate as the largest and most modern teaching hospital in Canada.
