Hospital Replacement Project

In the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island, roughly 60 kilometers north of Victoria, UBC members are working on the Cowichan District Hospital Replacement Project (CDHRP). The new hospital will be three times larger than the current facility and accommodate 204 beds. It will also be the first fully electric hospital in British Columbia. The project is being delivered by the Nutsa’maat Alliance, which consists of BC Infrastructure Benefits (BCIB), EllisDon, Parkin, Infrastructure BC, and Island Health. The construction of the estimated $1.45-billion (CAD), 607,601-square-foot hospital is expected to be completed in 2026.
