Nisutlin Bay Bridge Project

More than 70 workers from Local 1999 and 2499 are expected to work on the largest capital project in the Yukon territory’s history: a bridge replacement at Nisutlin Bay in Teslin. Both the teardown and construction will be handled exclusively by UBC members, among them local First Nations members contacted for employment opportunities. The contract was awarded to Graham Construction LP for $160 million.

Work will prove challenging due to the above-water conditions meaning safety will be a priority over all else. The project will require crane operators, electricians, truck drivers, welders, and more. Site preparation has begun, and the entire project is expected to wrap up in spring of 2026.
