<p><strong>About:</strong></p>
<p>Local 249 Carpenters’ Union represents 550 members working in the carpentry and construction trades across Eastern Ontario. Chartered in 1899 and based in Kingston, the union is part of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America (UBCJA), serving Kingston, Smiths Falls, and surrounding areas.</p>
<p>Members work in ICI, residential, and civil sectors, specializing in formwork, framing, drywall, flooring, and millwork. Local 249 also operates a 24,000 sq. ft. training centre in Kingston to support ongoing skills development and safety.</p>
<p>Through collective bargaining, the union secures fair wages, benefits, and pensions while promoting quality craftsmanship and strong industry standards across the region.</p>
