The UBC proudly announces that members McKenna Goodwin of Local 93 and Delaney Krieger of Local 494 have been named to WXN’s Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards list. The awards recognize women whose leadership is transforming industries and communities across Canada.
Both McKenna and Delaney are journeywomen. Alongside their work on the tools, they support Build a Dream. The organization delivers programs to recruit, retain, and advance women in underrepresented careers.
McKenna Goodwin earned recognition for her leadership and advocacy in advancing EDIA in Canada’s skilled trades. She is a Red Seal carpenter and Manager of Career Services at Build a Dream. She also co-hosts a Women on Site chapter. In addition, she serves as Vice-Chair of the CSA Z301 committee on inclusive apprenticeship.
“Being powerful means having the confidence and ability to make a difference, not just for yourself, but for others too,” said Goodwin. “It’s about speaking up, using your skills, and helping break down barriers so more people feel included and supported. Real power comes from lifting others up, staying strong through challenges, and standing up for fairness and equality in work and in life.”
Delaney Krieger received recognition for her work identifying and removing systemic and environmental barriers. A Red Seal interior systems mechanic, she also serves as Senior Manager of Career Services at Build a Dream. Her work includes leading program development and contributing to committee initiatives. At both provincial and national levels, she speaks to improve workplace culture and support all workers.
“Being recognized by WXN is such an honour,” said Krieger. “I plan to use this platform to amplify the voices of women and underrepresented groups in the skilled trades, and to keep advocating for the retention, support, and advancement they deserve. This work is only just beginning.”
