Each year, the UBC hosts the National Apprenticeship Competition (NAC), where skilled apprentices from across the country showcase their abilities and compete against their peers in their respective trades. Participants are first selected at the Local level to attend regional competitions, where winners secure a spot in the national finals. Those who moved on were invited to this year’s competition in Edmonton, held in September, where they competed in Carpentry, ISM, Floor Laying, Millwrighting, and Scaffolding.
More than just a competition, the NAC provides apprentices with a valuable opportunity to build confidence in their trade, learn from exceptional peers, and expand their professional networks across the union and its partners. It also serves as a moment to celebrate the talent, hard work, and accomplishments of the next generation of skilled tradespeople.
