On November 14, the Carpenters’ Union hosted a grand opening of the new UBC Built Training Centre in Vaughan, Ontario, a significant milestone in our commitment to providing state-of-the-art training facilities. This event marks a major investment to keep our members work-ready, now and in the future.
The new UBC Built Training Centre offers a wide range of training programs. At around 50,000 sq ft. of floor and classroom space, the new facility has the capacity to train thousands of carpenters each year in a wide range of sectors, including residential construction, scaffolding, formwork, mass timber, flooring, and more. The UBC now has over 200,000 sq ft. of training space in the GTA across four locations.
Valued partners from across Canada, including major signatory contractors, union leadership, industry stakeholders, and more, came together for the event. Attendees not only had the chance to tour the facility and speak with apprentices, but also to learn about the training programs being offered there. Most importantly, they had the unique opportunity to network with leaders in the construction industry and foster connections.
This exciting event celebrates the UBC’s commitment to developing the most skilled workforce in North America and marks another milestone for the Carpenters’ Union, its membership, and contractor partners in our over 140-year history.
