As the FIFA World Cup approaches, Vancouver’s PNE Amphitheatre is being redeveloped to become the city’s official FIFA Fan Festival site.

Since construction began, 60 UBC members from Local 1907 have been working on site with contractor EllisDon to make this project a reality. The new Amphitheatre will have the world’s largest free-span mass timber roof, shaped in a striking triangle. Three large concrete buttresses, built by UBC members using advanced concrete formwork, will support the roof.

The redeveloped PNE Amphitheatre is set to be finished before the World Cup starts in June. It will host match screenings, live concerts, and fan experiences during Vancouver’s FIFA Fan Festival. After the tournament, the Amphitheatre will continue to be a top spot for outdoor shows and events, supporting Vancouver’s arts and culture scene.
